Information Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has asked media to lend support to government rather than criticizing it.
“Media should support government instead of criticizing it”, she said this while talking to media men here Friday.
She told that Inter-media directorate had been set up in PID to address the problems facing the media.
Politicians should join hands with institutions rather than targeting them, she urged. “We want to pursue politics of reconciliation and not confrontation”, she remarked. 1973 constitution has been fully restored, she underlined.
People decide who is winner and who is loser in the elections; she said adding PPP had achieved tremendous success in AJI elections. Polls rigging blame being levelled against PPP was baseless, she held. Kashmir issue would be resolved at international level, she said.
“We are strengthening the units to sort out the problems and media is playing the best role”, she underscored.
“I congratulate president and prime minister on devolution of powers. Now we have to see what steps are taken by the provincial governments to resolve the problems”, she maintained. PPP has taken decision of devolution of powers in consultation with its allies and the problems being confronted by the common man would soon be addressed, she vowed.
“It is our desire that MQM plays a pro active role in system. We have always followed the politics of reconciliation. President Asif Ali Zardari is on foreign trip and policy would be evolved on his return to home”, she stated.
