The Health Ministry has issued an illegal registration certificate to a private medical college (PMC) without prior approval of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council PMDC, said a Pakistan Medical Association spokesman on Thursday. The PMDC had rejected Al Razi Medical College’s registration case as the above mentioned private medical college did not have its own building and its own hospital. The Health Ministry, in violation of the PMDC regulations, issued a registration certificate to the PMC, allowing it to admit 100 students for MBBS. PMA office bearers strongly protested against the issuance of the registration certificate and demanded resignation from the top officials of the Health Ministry on this. The PMA spokesman said the federal government officials were working on the agenda to destroy medical education in the country and if the prime minister did not take notice of the issue, it would damage the reputation of Pakistan internationally.
The PMA has appealed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan chief justice to revoke the illegal registration of the college so that the future of the students can be saved.
