‘Foreign companies being encouraged to invest in Pakistan’

Foreign investors are encouraged to invest in Pakistan, and the present government is trying its best to provide all the related facilities to foreign investors, said Sindh Chief Minister’s Adviser Zubair Motiwala in a meeting at his office where Consul General of China in Karachi HE Zhang Jianxin called on him on Thursday. Motiwala said that China is a good friend of Pakistan, and that the soft image of Pakistan should be portrayed to the world so that foreign investors are encouraged to invest in the country. He said that China is a huge market with immense diversity in business. He also presented a memento to Jianxin on the occasion.
Sindh Board of Investment Secretary Younus Dagha informed Jianxin about the four-day visit to China of the board’s delegation from July 12. Dagha said that the delegation would comprise 18 participants from different private organisations who would meet Chinese businessmen during their visit. He said that they were arranging meetings of the delegation with government officials of China as well as the business community.
He informed the participants of the meeting that the prime task of the visit was to spread awareness among the business community of China about attracting investment opportunities in Pakistan.
He said that the delegation would also be following the decision of the joint energy working group during the visit. Dagha informed the participants that they would like to expedite implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the China Wind Energy Company for power generation of 2,000 megawatts in Pakistan.
He said that during the visit, the delegation would meet foreign investors belonging to the electricity, aquaculture, information technology, mass transit and urban transportation sectors among others.
