Lahoris on Wednesday celebrated Shab-e-Miraj with religious reverence. In this regard people organised special congregations in mosques and offered special prayers. The clerics enlightened masses about the significance of Shab-e-Miraj. People also distributed sweets and other delicacies among their relatives and neighbours. The mosques and other buildings were adorned with decorative lights. Shab-e-Miraj is marked every year on Rajab 27th (Islamic calendar) to celebrate the communion of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) with Allah. Shab-e-Meraj was the night in which Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) journeyed to Masjid-e-Aqsa in Jerusalem and thereafter to the skies on a horse-like animal called Burraq and witnessed the paradise and the hell and met other prophets there. At Masjid-e-Aqsa, Holy Prophet (PBUH) also led a prayer attended by all the earlier prophets sent to mankind.
