PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif has called a meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) on July 1 to review the political situation in the country, and to discuss a possible alliance with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
Sources said the CEC might approve an alliance with the MQM, adding that it would be a turning point in the current political situation. “Nawaz Sharif has called a meeting of the CEC in Lahore to discuss a possible alliance with the MQM.
I will leave for Lahore tomorrow. However, no decision has been taken regarding the alliance so far,” senior PML-N leader from Sindh Ghous Ali Shah told Pakistan Today.
He said the PML-N was not bound to follow the agreement it had made with Imran Khan regarding an alliance with the MQM, as “now Imran himself is sitting with the MQM”.
Possibility: Meanwhile, Senior Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister Zulfiqar Khosa said the MQM had been the PML-N’s ally in the past and there were chances that the two might join hands again, a private TV channel reported
on Wednesday.
