Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Thursday reshuffled three federal secretaries. Minorities and Interfaith Harmony Secretary Khwaja Siddque Akbar has been transferred and posted as Interior secretary to replace Qamar Zaman, who has been posted as States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) secretary. The incumbent SAFRON secretary, Habibullah Khattak, been posted as the Pakistan Tobacco Board Peshawar chairman with immediate effect.
The ministry of minorities stands devolved after the Cabinet Division notified the devolution of all 17 ministries on Thursday. Talking to Siddique Akbar, Prime Minister Gilani emphasised that vigilance and intelligence sharing among law enforcement agencies should be enhanced to ensure security of the citizens. The Ministry of Interior had significant responsibility in this regard, Gilani said. He stressed on the need for better coordination among the federal and provincial security agencies, as well as capacity building through improved training programmes to meet the security challenges.
