Insecurity on the street

Increase in police pickets, barriers and mobiles in the city of Islamabad have increased the sense of insecurity in the local residents, instead of decreasing it. I have never witnessed such a sharp increase in police activity in my locality.

A community police station has also started its operations recently in the area but instead of increasing interaction with local residents, police is still sticking to its traditional role of stopping and harassing people at random.

This tradition needs to end because people are already tired of so many other problems that harassment by police adds to their woes. Police is the name of responsibility and I appreciate their role in providing security but unnecessary checking and bullying is not appreciable.
