End-June downpour brings relief to Lahoris

A pleasant weather prevailed in the city after a heavy downpour on early Wednesday morning as private television channels reported that flood warning centres had been formed in Pakistan and India with India assuring advance notification on flooding. According Met Department 98 mm of rain was recorded in Lahore airport area while 46 mm was recorded in the rest of city. A significant drop in mercury level was also witnessed as the maximum temperature in the city was 33 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The weather department’s forecast says that scattered thunderstorm and rain with isolated heavy falls is expected in Lahore, Kashmir and Gujranwala divisions. Scattered thunderstorm with rain is also expected over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Kohat, Bannu and DI Khan divisions) and Rawalpindi division. The maximum temperature on Thursday would be between 33 to 35 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the low-lying areas of city were inundated on Wednesday morning and people faced difficulties to travel.
