The Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific Airways has donated Rs 2 million to the Karachi Relief Trust and the Al Umeed Rural School Project in a move to help the flood survivors of Pakistan.
The cheques were handed over by Cathay Pacific Airways Country Manager Feroze Jamal to the respective charities. Rs 1 million were handed over to the Karachi Relief Trust for constructing 10 new houses for the flood survivors.
Another cheque of Rs 1 million was handed over to the Al Umeed Rural School Project for the Rural School Building Project and purchasing materials for their ongoing flood relief projects.
Jamal said, “Cathay Pacific Airways is a socially responsible airline and has been vigorously working to support the flood survivors in Pakistan since 2010. Not only have we airlifted more than 27 tonnes of relief goods from Vietnam, but our staff members have donated a day’s salary towards the relief efforts being undertaken by various organisations. And now we have selected the Karachi Relief Trust and the Al Umeed Rural School Project to continue our support for the flood survivors of Pakistan.”
Moreover, Cathay Pacific Airways has donated 1.5 million Hong Kong dollars (approximately Rs 16.5 million) to the United Nations Children’s Fund for the flood survivors of Pakistan.
