The Sports Promotion Society organised a Walk and Sports Festival program for the awareness of the World Antinarcotics Day.
The events were held with the collaboration of the Ministry of Health, Punjab Antinarcotics Drug Department, Punjab Aids Consortium, Human Antinarcotics Drug Society, Pakistan Lion’s Youth Council. SPS is conducting this event for spreading the awareness of healthy environment and raise awareness of the major problems which are caused by drugs in the society.
“Sports Promotion Society” & “DPE of KIPS”, Prof. Faisal Fayyaz (international gymnast & PM of PUCIT) who was the chief organizer of this event, said “We should take really some serious action against drug abuse by keeping in mind that it is a preventable disease. There should be some prevention program at the family, schools, colleges, community and media levels to ensure the message reaches the maximum. Dr. Qaiser Javed, the representative of Ministry of Health, said at the finishing line of walk at Akbar Chowk that this day was being observed each year to raise awareness of the major problems caused by narcotics in the society.
As part of the day, the sports festival started at 7 am in the ground of Mian Plaza Johar Town which consisted of cricket, badminton and football matches. Mohammad Ali won this festival and won the title of best player while Hassan Butt, Ali Zaidi, Hassan Zaidi, Zeeshan, Jehangir, Hafiz Abdullah performed best as much as they can. The walk started at 4:00 PM from Allah Ho Chowk to Akbar Chowk.
