Rams, Dolphins cruise to semis

Rawalpindi Rams and Karachi Dolphins moved into the semi-finals of the T20 tournament. Rawalpindi Rams beat Multan Tigers; While Karachi Dolphins thrashed Faisalabad Wolves by 124 runs earlier in the opening match on the fifth day of the Super Eight T20 Cup at the Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad on Sunday night. Sohail Tanvir brilliant all-round performance, taking two for 21 and then scoring unbeaten 39 in 30 balls, saw Multan Tigers dismissed for 128 and Rawalpindi Rams reply with 134 for three to win the match. Chasing the target of 128 runs set by the Tigers, Rams achieved the target in 14.3 over losing three wickets. Batting first, no batsmen from the Tigers could handle the pressure imposed by the Rams’ bowlers. Raza Hasan grabbed four wickets for the Tigers. Earlier, Shahzaib Hasan with his big hitting and Sohail Khan and Haaris Ayaz with their nipped bowling steered Karachi Dolphins to a 124 runs win against Faisalabad Wolves in the opening match of the day. Shahzaib 69 of 28 balls laid the solid foundation for Dolphins while Khalid Latif, Asad Shafiq, Sarfraz Ahmed, Mohammad Sami and Haaris made useful contributions to post the Dolphins total to 231 for seven. Shahzaib completed his fifty in just 19 balls and hit six fours and three sixes in his half century. Saadat Munir, M Hafeez and Khurrum Shahzad shared two wickets each for the Wolves. In reply, the Dolphins’ bowlers Sohail and Haaris shared three wickets each while Azam Hussain had two to restrict Wolves at just 107 runs in 13.3 overs. Misbah (17) and Naved Latif (20) showed some resistance from Wolves while other batsmen failed to make any impact and fell cheaply.
