A hotel chain is testing a ‘snore absorption’ room, including soundproofing and a specially-designed pillow to help guests sleep.
Crowne Plaza is testing the special room at one of its hotels in London, using different forms of technology and new ideas. Walls have been soundproofed, using eggbox-style foam to reduce noise reverberating in the room, while a sound-absorbing headboard will muffle any echo from snores.
An anti-snoring pillow has been placed on the bed, as well as a device which aims to make people sleep on their sides, as lying flat on your back often produces snoring.
The rooms are being tested at the London hotel as well as nine other hotels across Europe and the Middle East for one week. “We’ve all been there. Lying wide awake at three o’clock in the morning, burying our head under a pillow to drown out our partner’s snoring. There’s nothing worse than being kept up all night and that’s why we’ve designed this specific snore absorption room to help give our guests a great night’s sleep,” the hotel management said.
A survey of 1,000 people carried out for the hotel found half of couples complain about a partner’s snoring spoiling their holiday.
