Minister for Housing and Works Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat has finally moved to get his “favourite bureaucrat” Kamran Lashari appointed to run the ministry. The minister called on the prime minister on Tuesday and asked for the appointment of Lashari as the ministry’ secretary, a source told Pakistan Today.
During his meeting with Hayat, the prime minister assured him of appointing Lashari, a BPS-22 DMG officer, and a notification was issued within hours. As the minister for Interior during General Pervez Musharraf’s rule, Hayat had managed to get Lashari appointed as the CDA chairman and Lashari in return had worked relentlessly to beautify the capital.
“The prime minister has been pleased to appoint Kamran Lashari as the Secretary for Housing and Works,” the PM House announced on Tuesday. Talking to Hayat, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said the provision of basic amenities of life to all the citizen of Pakistan was the basic objective of the government and in this regard, various schemes had been introduced to directly provide relief to the downtrodden segments of the society, a press release said.
He mentioned that BISP and the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme for the low income groups clearly defined the government’s agenda. While referring to the implementation on the 18th Amendment, the prime minister said the original democratic spirit of the constitution had been restored and the future course of democratic dispensation in the country would largely focus on the promotion of reconciliatory policy and consensus building on issues of national importance.
Hayat informed the prime minister of the progress made on the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme for the lower income group.
