Chief Secretary reviews monsoon arrangements

Sindh Chief Secretary Raja Muhammad Abbas has asked the respective departments to ensure all preparations for combating the monsoon season adequately.
He issued the directive while presiding over a meeting to review the measures undertaken by authorities for the approaching monsoon.
The secretaries of Rehabilitation and Irrigation departments informed the participants of the meeting about the vulnerable districts and apprehensions of natural and likely means of rainfall, including preparatory measures.
During the meeting, reports on last year’s flood were also discussed and it was informed that 636,319 Watan Cards have been processed, while the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued 635,634 Watan Cards. It was informed at the meeting that cash grants worth Rs 11.74 billion have been paid to the flood-affected families with Rs 20,000 for each family, equally funded by the federal and provincial governments.
The Sindh Chief Secretary advised the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Relief Commissioner and all other departments relevant to strengthen liaison for facilitating the people with all necessities.
Abbas asked all district coordination officers to be alert and extend cooperation with PDMA and other departments concerned like Rehabilitation, Irrigation, Board of Revenue, Health and Local Government.
Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary has also acquired reports regarding issues in this regard from the Irrigation and Rehabilitation departments.
