A young Hindu trader, Suresh Kumar, who had been reported missing a couple of weeks ago resurfaced on Tuesday.
Following the publication of a news story in Pakistan Today, about his missing, Kumar, a resident of Latif Town, reached Mirpurkhas and was presented before the Mirpurkhas DPO.
According to press release issued by DPO Mirpurkhas Riaz Ahmad Soomro, Kumar, son of Kirshanchand Maharaj, owner of a shop, had not been kidnapped but only went to Lahore on June 16, leaving behind his family after a rift among the family members.
During the time, his cell phone was snatched so he could not contact his family. Kumar remained in Lahore for more than two weeks and returned on Tuesday.
It may be recalled that around a week ago, the ‘missing’ trader’s uncle, Dr Tulsi Das, had told Pakistan Today that his nephew Kumar might be in the custody of intelligence agencies, as he frequently interacted with his family relatives from India, and had on many occasions received Indians arriving from Thar Express at the railway station. He had said that the father of three was running a general store and had no enmity with anyone. A case was also lodged with the town police about his missing.
The return of the ‘kidnapped’ Hindu man was interesting, but Mirpurkhas DPO’s statement that Kumar had not been kidnapped nor picked up by any government organisation and had left his home after a minor family feud with them, leaves a lot of questions unanswered.
