Raja Muhammad Abbas has assumed charge as the new Sindh Chief Secretary. An announcement to this effect was made in a statement released on Monday. Abdus Subhan Memon, who was holding the acting charge of Chief Secretary, handed over the charge to Abbas. Raja Abbas is the 51st Chief Secretary since the creation of the Sindh province in 1936, and he is also the 33rd Chief Secretary after abolition of the One Unit in 1970. It must be mentioned here that Abbas had also served Sindh during 2000-04. In August 2000, he was posted to the province for the first time as Karachi Fisheries Harbour Authority Managing Director. Before his new assignment, Abbas was the Housing and Works Federal Secretary.
