Federal Defence Minister Ch Ahmed Mukhtar has said that Pakistan does not have the capacity to fight prolonged battle with India adding that ties with India would normalise gradually.
“ In the past wars Pakistan and India had capacity to fight for only 22 days but now since India had increased his military might it might have enhanced its capacity to fight war for 45 days but Pakistan does not have that much capacity”, Ahmed Mukhtar said in an interview with the BBC Urdu service
In response to a question regarding Abbottabad Commission, set up for investigating the unilateral strike of US forces in Pakistan and presence of Osama Bin Laden, he said the commission has not even yet started working and already it is being criticised. He said the recommendations of the commission would be implemented in letter and spirit.
He said army also wants for the commission to finish its report at the earliest so the responsible are punished
In response to a question regarding dialogue with Taliban he said we are in favour of dialogue with all Taliban. He said Taliban have ties with several Middle Eastern countries and Taliban go to Saudi Arabia for dialogue. Even our religious organisations have contact with them.
Ahmed Mukhtar said we also want a peaceful solution to the problems of Afghanistan. We want peace to prevail in Afghanistan so that refugees can go back to their country so that peace can prevail in our country as well. we have also suffered much, the defence minister said.
