National dress

As Pakistani, we should feel proud to wear national dress at official functions and while representing Pakistan abroad as part of official delegation. Unfortunately, we find our leaders wearing all sorts of dresses on official functions and while visiting foreign countries as part of official delegations.

The point in case specially refers to our President who invariably wears a designer’s suit with Sindhi cap. The Jinnah cap which is part of our national dress looks very graceful even if worn with the suit. Wearing Sindhi cap in any case does not look appropriate, especially when we have a prescribed national dress.

While attending national functions, the President is symbol of federation and should wear national dress. He may, however, wear Sindhi cap with Ajrak while attending private functions in his home province of Sindh. There are many other points of protocol which are not being followed by our ministers, governors and parliamentarian. By violating the protocol, one loses grace and dignity. The SOPs have been laid down for our VIPs and VVIPs to be followed in letter and spirit. Let us ensure the respect and dignity of an office or appointment.
