The Met office on Sunday predicted the onset of monsoon over upper parts of Pakistan from Monday and Tuesday, with scattered rains and thundershowers during the next week.
The Met office said monsoon currents were continuously penetrating the upper parts of Pakistan indicating the onset of the regular monsoon rains during the next 12 to 24 hours (Monday/Tuesday). The expected first spell of monsoon rains would last for four to five days, giving scattered rains, thundershowers and isolated heavy falls in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Kashmir. Rain and thundershowers are also expected in Islamabad during the next 12 hours. Monsoon rain is also predicted in isolated parts of lower Sindh during the mid-week.
The Met office said the monsoon normally onsets in Pakistan around July 1, but it is going to start early this year. The prevailing hot and humid weather conditions are likely to subside in Islamabad, Punjab, KP and Kashmir from Monday.
