Human resource in police

The police in Pakistan have been facing a predicament where they have been assigned the job to police a large population, with a meagre number of personnel. For example, in Karachi there are only estimated 29,000 police personnel for a population of 15 million.

It is a deplorable condition where understandably with such a token force available, situation does get out of control. Even the quality of human resource allocated and available to police is not satisfactory while no effort is made to improve their potential. The recruiting process is also marred with political hiring and nepotism. These issues will have to be addressed by the higher authorities to curtail the deteriorating law and order situation.
