Heat stricken prisoner attacks constable

A down in the dumps prisoner injured a constable in district courts lock-up, Bakhshi Khan, as he attacked him with a blade over a petty matter. The prisoner, Ali Ayyaz, was brought from Kot Lakhpat Jail to be produced in the court of judicial magistrate and was kept in the lock-up. Ayyaz requested the constable on duty, Kamran Baig, to produce him before the magistrate in an early turn. The constable refused to do so saying that he could not produce him in court until his case was not called. Despite the refusal, Ayyaz, who was exasperated by scorching heat, repeatedly requested the constable to produce him before the magistrate without waiting for his turn.
The constable, irritated by the frequent requests, asked Ayyaz to keep quite, over which he lost his temperament and attacked the constable with a blade which he had hidden in his clothes. The constable was wounded on his wrist but remained safe from any serious harm. The Lower Mall Police Station expressed its disability to confirm the happening of the said incident while the constable, Tanzeem-ul-Hassan, who was deputed at the main gate of district courts confirmed it but was not able to provide any details in this regard.
