Calligraphy artist donates his art to PNCA

Renowned calligraphy artist Rana Riaz Ahmed has donated an exquisite piece of calligraphic art to the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA).The artist who works on Islamic art and explores Muslim heritage in his techniques, presented the art piece to Director General PNCA, Tauqeer Nasir. His art combines technique, style and color to provide art lovers with an opportunity to enjoy the glimpses of the heritage of Muslim society.
Rana Riaz Ahmed is amongst those practitioners of calligraphic painting who are known for their distinct and convincing expression. Though, he has been in the circle for quite some time but it was only in 1990s when he took it up seriously. He also claims to have introduced a technique “Pointillism” never viewed before in the world of calligraphy. He paints in layer by employing tiny dots thus adding luminosity to his elegantly composed compositions based on Quranic verses and the Holy names of the Almighty.
The textures created by applying layer upon layer of colors and dots add mystical element to his painting. There is an element of mystery, spiritualism, magnificence and elegance to his work.
