Prices of a majority of vegetables increased while fruit prices decreased at various Sunday Bazaars. The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) cancelled only one stall for overcharging and poor standards and declared all other stalls as satisfactory. The pleasant weather also attracted a large number of customers, which helped the sales of shopkeepers to increase. The district coordination committees inspected Sunday Bazaars of the city and fined Rs 9,000 on some stalls. Labour inspectors were also missing from the Begum Kot and Karim Park bazaars.
“There was a continuous flow of customers during the whole day, as the weather was quite pleasant,” shopkeeper Ehsan Ali of Green Town Sunday Bazaar said adding that it also benefited shopkeepers. “My sales remained high, as compared to previous weeks,” another vegetable vendor Abdul Rehman said adding that tempers of customers also remained positive due to the pleasant weather.
“If there is sizzling heat then customers often quarrel with us,” Rehman said. Customers were also seen enjoying the pleasant weather. “I did not visit the Sunday Bazaar last week, as it was quite hot and I preferred staying home,” housewife Sundas Tariq said.
