In the absence of an elected district assembly in district Umerkot, the Umerkot District Administrator on Saturday presented a surplus budget of Rs 3.221 billion for the fiscal year 2011-12.
Presiding over the budget session, Nazar Muhammad Kalhoro unveiled the budget copy, showing an opening balance 100 million with an indicative share to be paid by the provincial government at Rs 2.508 billion. Total grant to be received from provincial government in SLTS was Rs 530 million against the previous year’s Rs 556.9 million.
The total receipts stood at Rs 3.221 billion while the amount allocated for the salary component was Rs 2.374 billion; non-salary component Rs 375.055 million; and Rs 381.154 million for the Annual Development Programme against the previous year’s Rs 421.154 million.
Meanwhile, Rs 6 million have been allocated for financial assistance of families of the deceased who died during service. An amount of Rs 10 million was allocated for disaster management including storms, cyclone, droughts, etc. Moreover, the budget allocated amounts of Rs 7.741 million for the computerised arms licence management system; Rs 3 million for sports-related activities and the lump sum amount placed for other programmes was Rs 56.456 million with total proposed expenditures amounting to Rs 3221.88 million and net savings shown at Rs 0.001978 million.
As far as the ongoing developmental schemes are concerned, the amounts allocated in the budget were Rs 150 million for roads; Rs 115 million for buildings; and 35 million for education. Whereas the block allocation for new schemes was set at Rs 57 million against the previous year’s allocation of Rs 97 million. For CCB schemes, Rs 23.19 million were allocated. The budget announcement session was attended by journalists and departmental heads of various departments of the district.
