MQM protests postponement of polls on 3 AJK seats

The activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement demonstrated against the postponement of election in Karachi and Peshawar constituencies for Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. Led by MQM Information Secretary Abid Junaid, the demonstration was staged in front of the Peshawar Press Club. Holding banners and placards, the protesters chanted slogans against the government. Speaking on the occasion, Abid Junaid termed the postponement of election in Peshawar and Karachi a conspiracy. He said the government was afraid of MQM’s success, so the election in the three constituencies was postponed. They warned the MQM would launch a countrywide protest against the decision. Meanwhile, the MQM activists staged a demonstration outside the Lahore Press Club here Saturday in protest against the postponement of polls in LA-30, LA-36 and LA-41. Dozens of MQM workers, including women, attended the protest and strongly condemned the decision of postponement of elections on three seats by the federal government. They termed it a conspiracy against the Haq Parast Kashmiris to deprive them of using their democratic right. The protesters chanted slogans against the federal govt and demanded of the federal government to withdraw its decision.
