Local judicial magistrate Khalid Saeed Watto declared Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) National Assembly Member (MNA) (NA-118 Shahdara) Malik Riaz and Muhammad Fayyaz “court absconders” on Saturday. A private complaint was filed by Israr Malik against them seeking addition of section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) in a first information report (FIR) registered in 2009 against the MNA and seven others for attacking him and a court’s deputed bailiff.
Israr said he had a dispute with the MNA regarding ownership of a five-marla commercial property in Shahdara. The Supreme Court had decided the case in his favour but the accused did not withdraw illegal possession of the land. To get the possession, he filed a suit before the court of senior civil judge and the judge deputed a bailiff to get the property vacated, said Israr. The applicant said when the bailiff along with police personnel reached the site for compliance of the court order, the MNA and his armed men attacked the group and tortured them. Shahdara Town Police registered an FIR of the incident against Malik Riaz, Muhammad Fayaz, Malik Khadim, Sajjad alias Pappa, Malik Shahzad Hussain, Malik Rizwan and Chanda Bibi.
