The blaze which erupted at Shah Alam Market here on Friday has been brought under control after 20 hours on Saturday with goods worth million of rupees burned to ashes.
Shah Alam Market traders put up protest demonstrations and demanded the government of recovery of their losses and inquiry into the blaze incident.
According to details, fire broke out at Lahore’s Shah Alam Market Friday afternoon and before long, it engulfed the entire premises with damage to the abutting buildings.
The raging fire put the nearby buildings at risk of collapse. Fire brigade squad faced problems owing to narrow passages leading to the affected site, according to Rescue 1122 Officer Ali.
Though local traders salvaged some of their possessions, goods worth millions of rupees were gutted. Traders voiced dissatisfaction over the relief activities taken up by the rescue teams.
