A meeting was organised to discuss the steps to counter expected floods at the Civil Secretariat with Punjab Livestock Secretary Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh in the chair. The meeting was attended by Deputy Secretary (Tech) Dr Iftikhar Ali, Director General (Ext) Dr. Irfan Zahid, Director General (R) Dr Zafar Jamil Gill, Director Communication & Extension Dr Asrar Hussain, Director Animal Disease Reporting & Surveillance Dr Shahid Hussain Bukhari, Director Animal Health Dr. Anwar Hussain, Planning & Evaluation Director Dr Qurban Hussain and other officers of the Livestock Department. A comprehensive programme regarding anti- flood measures like treatment for animals, vaccination, balanced feed, provision and storage of fodder and medicines in nearby stations as well as rescue operation in the flood-affected areas were discussed. Various teams headed by directors/district livestock officers in 21 districts of Punjab were formed.
