Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Asma Jahangir has said authoring foreign policy was not the domain of the military but was a mandate of democratic rulers. “The formation of foreign policy is not the mandate of the military but is the job of democratic rulers. It has to be decided by the rulers if they have to purchase a gun or a book,” she said while addressing theoath-taking ceremony of the Rahim Yar Khan District Bar Association on Saturday.
“Dictatorship has gone but dictatorial mindset is still here. However, the SCBA will continue its struggle until the elimination of this mindset,” she said. She said the SCBA was not functioning under tutelage of the government and it took decisions on its own so that the future of coming generation remained invulnerable. “I hold in high esteem all judiciary, from a civil judge to the chief justice of Pakistan. The judiciary should channelise all its energies in providing speedy and inexpensive justice to the people,” she added.
