Public trust in the police

The confidence of the public in the department of police has been on a downward slide. The common public prefers to settle matters on their own rather than approaching the police or even the courts. The public has an embedded fear of the legal system, especially the police.

Nowadays, one can find many reported incidents where the citizens took the law into their own hands, rather than calling in the police or approaching the legal system for assistance. The police is an institution which is a tool for enforcing law and order in a democratic system of government.

With the current deteriorating condition of the department, it is important that this institution is reformed.
