SBI delegation to visit China

China is potentially a very lucrative market fielding a wide range of options for an enterprising businessman. This was stated by the Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister Muhammad Zubair Motiwala.
He was presiding over a preparatory meeting regarding the Sindh Board of Investment’s (SBI) delegation to China. Motiwala who is also the Vice-Chairman of the SBI said that the objective of the meeting was to discuss and plan a strategy for the visit.
He informed participants that the SBI is taking an investment delegation to the Peoples Republic of China next month. The delegation, he added, would be led by the Sindh Chief Minister. On the occasion, Secretary Investments, Mohammad Younus Dagha, said that SBI would review final presentations to be received from the concerned departments with the perspective of highlighting investment essentials.
It was decided that all departments would prepare their project proposals and printed material/pamphlets for proper projection of investment opportunities to be translated in Chinese language.Secretary Investment said that all departments should provide a list of the Chinese companies with whom meetings may be arranged for making the event more productive.
He also asked the departments to provide their suggestions to help planning the event in a befitting manner. The participants discussed the details of the projects to be offered to the Chinese counterparts. Secretary Coal and Energy, Ejaz Ali Khan, informed that they were actively working on attracting investment in coal mining and power generation. Secretary Investment requested Coal and Energy Department to provide meeting agenda to be discussed with Chinese companies. Secretary Agriculture Agha Jan Akhter, said that Pakistan Embassy may be requested that meetings with tractors manufacturers, agro-implements, agri business value addition, cold chain and subsurface drip irrigation tape manufacturers may be arranged to introduce efficiency and technology in this sector.
Agriculture Department will prepare proposals for these projects to be presented to Chinese companies. The Administrator/DCO, Karachi, Mohammed Hussain Syed, informed that City Government has certain proposals to offer to China which included public transport under Karachi Transport Improvement Plan along with CNG bus Project, Mass Transit which comprised of BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) and RRT (Rail Rapid Transit).
The DCO Karachi also told the participants that Sewerage Treatment Plant S-III, Solid Waste Management and solar street lights projects should be prepared which can attract Chinese investment. Secretary Livestock said that Livestock Department would present proposals for Bhambhor Livestock and Dairy Village and Aqua culture along the coastline.
The Consultant from IT department, Sameer Hoodbhoy, said that currently IT Department was working on IT City project and they would submit proposals for seeking investment in hardware manufacturing and anchor companies.
