PPP govt believes in complete freedom of press: Firdous

Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said people’s government has encouraged constructive criticism by the media, giving it total freedom to criticise its policies. She was addressing a meeting of religious scholars and journalists of Daska, Sambrial and Sialkot at a local hotel. The meeting was attended by senior journalists, Electronic Media Reporters Association Chairman Imran Sharif, Young Journalists Daska Chairman Kamran Afzal, General Secretary Dr Ameen Raza, Sheikh Zia Ulah, senior reporter, Rana Irshad and Pirzada Muhammad Akram Raza. Dr Firdous said Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto actually provided the basis for the freedom of expression, which the Pakistani media was enjoying today. The minister added the free media must work with responsibility and impartiality.
