The Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday got its 2011-12 budget approved from the governing board for the new financial year but did not give the proposed figures. However, the PCB said that the budget deficit was much higher than the previous year. The house also appointed Badar Manzoor as the Chief Financial Officer and also formed several committees for growing violations of the code of conduct from the players and the PCB officials. Addressing the press conference here at the Gaddafi Stadium after a day long meeting of the governing board, PCB chairman Ijaz Butt said that modifications were made in the budget from the previous accounts albeit he refused to reveal the details.
However, he informed that the off shore venues had never been a loss. He said the budget also included enhanced security plan for the PCB offices and the National Cricket Academy. Apart from Wazir Ali Khoja, all the other members of the governing board were present during the press conference. The PCB official informed that three committees have also been formed for the smooth conduct of the board affairs.
Disciplinary, marketing and grounds committees will have a permanent place in the board’s set up while plans are afoot to organise district, inter-district and regional cricket tournaments at club level and bring the domestic cricket in line with the ICC policy. He said that the house also approved logos for the regional teams. The board also made former chief selection Abdul Qadir as coordinator for club cricket. To a question he said that the PCB and ICC were in discussion on the rotation policy and the government interference in the board’s affairs. “It’s the board and the ICC’s internal matter and will be kept secret,” he added.
