US President Barak Obama telephoned President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday and discussed bilateral ties and the latest situation in the region.
Both leaders agreed to take appropriate steps to repair the ties between the two countries on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit.
Obama appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in the fight against militancy while Zardari said the fight against extremism was Pakistan’s own.
The two leaders also agreed to maintain regular contacts and interaction at appropriate levels for the resolution of issues.
