Hundreds of growers being supplied water from Manehro and Sunn minor canals near Daur town staged a demonstration against acute shortage of irrigation water at the tail-end areas.
The protesters, led by Noor Nabi Jamali, Ali Mardan Jamali, Shafqat Arain and Mian Bux Lashari, said the canal was gone dry for the past one month due to which they have suffered heavy financial losses.
They said the canals provided irrigation water to growers through 42 watercourses irrigating hundreds of acres of land and demanded that water be released in the canals to prevent their crops from drying.
