Sit-in of the National Education Foundation (NEF) teachers Tuesday continued on second day in front of the Parliament.
Teachers, members of various NGOs and other workers in a large number had gathered in front of the parliament Monday and their protest is continuing till filing of this report.
While addressing the protesting teachers, a large number of them which are female, various speakers said that if government will not reverse its decision then 0.6 million children’s future will be endangered and more than 15 thousand teachers will become jobless.
Some women parliamentarians joined the sit-in and expressed solidarity with the protesting teachers. The PML-N parliamentarians assured teachers of full support in their struggle.
Due to scorching heat some of the teachers are sitting in various groups in shadows of trees near the D-Chowk.
Owing to severe hot weather several of the teachers especially women become unconscious that were shifted to hospitals.
After transfer of education ministry, under 18th Amendment, to the provinces more than 15 thousand informal schools will be closed on July 1.
Meanwhile, some of the teachers among the huge crowed quarreled with some media men for not fully supporting the teachers’ protest. However, shortly after the reasoning the teachers leaders controlled the situation by announcing that the teachers’ protest news is leading in electronic as well as print media.
After the announcement the protesting crowed chanted slogans in support of media by saying ‘we love media’ and ‘media zindabad’.
