Sikh pilgrims arrived at Wagha Railway Station by a special train on Tuesday to observe 172th death anniversary of Ranjeet Singh.
Sikh pilgrim expressed gratitude for providing them with tight security on this occasion. Evacuee Trust Property Board Chairman Asif Hashmi and Sikh leaders received the pilgrims at the station.
Sikh pilgrims will stay in the city until June 30 and during this period, they will perform their rituals at Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Hassanabdal, Sacha Soda, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, and Gurdwara Dera Sahib, Lahore. Railways deputy controller told Pakistan Today that approximately 235 Sikhs reached the station and after spending some time there, they traveled to Nankana Sahib, where they performed their rituals in the gurdwara. The Sikhs prayed for the country’s solidarity and integrity and wished for peace.
Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who was born on November 13, 1780 and died on June 20, 1839, was the ruler of the confederation of Sikh states for some time. He was the first Maharaja of the Sikh Empire.
