Even though the War on Terror has seen an entire decade, it does not seem to be coming to an end. The target countries have suffered more than they bargained for, as did the US. But what is more troubling is how Pakistan has been embroiled in this situation. It has faced countless suicide bombings, loss of life and property, collapse of its economy and a stigma on its name all over the world. The calls to “do more” come back at us like an echo.
Pakistan’s interests are not that much in line with the US’s interests. We just need to find a common ground as terrorism is our common enemy. If we can’t be ideal friends, we need not be worst enemies.
