Justice for all?

The concept of delayed justice is not new in Pakistan, but the fact that justice is now becoming the sole preserve of the privileged and the inequality in its dissemination is leading to the tearing of the social fabric.

It is an enigma why the media has silenced itself on the various killings of innocent people such as Sarfraz Shah or even the killing of Khalid Khwaja around a year ago who had been recommended for a fate that he perhaps didn’t deserve. His son is still running from pillar to post to get his case registered.

Is the mere fact that those accused are stronger than the affected enough reason for the delayed justice and lack of interest the Supreme Court is exhibiting? If that is the case, then why is a single incident such as the murder of Saleem Shahzad being given extra privilege? Is the death of Wali Khan Babur and the hordes of other such cases of journalistic murders not of equal significance? Should not they be solved before proceeding any further?

Why have we become selective in our choice of cases to be put forth for judicial evaluation? Is it justice that we crave for others or is there something in it for us? Will the Chief Justice please define the parameters for incidence selection?
