A three-day anti-polio campaign would be launched from Monday (today) in the coastal villages of the province, said Sindh Health Minister Sagheer Ahmed.
“The campaign will be carried out from June 20 to 22 and over 2.9 million children will be covered under the vaccination programme,” Ahmed said.
He said that the three-day campaign would particularly cover the coastal belts, including those in Karachi, Thatta, Badin and Tando Mohammad Khan.
The health workers would administer polio drops to 2.4 million children in Karachi, over 80,000 in Tando Mohammad Khan, 2.3 million in Badin and 2.3 million in Thatta, he added.
Moreover, he said, over 7,000 mobile units would also be operating along the coastal belt to cover those left over in the respective areas.
A mass awareness campaign would also be launched simultaneously for the parents to make a joint effort for eradicating polio, he added.
