Robbers take away Rs 5m from bank

At least six Pushto-speaking Afghans looted Rs five million and hidden cameras on Monday afternoon from Bank Al-Habib Sheikhupura branch and fled away in a car. The police blocked all the city exits and started search operation after constituting special investigating teams. As per details, there was an extraordinary rush at this branch after a day off and six persons, reportedly Afghan nationals, entered one by one in the bank at about 1:40pm. Suddenly, they snatched weapons from the security guards at gunpoint. After taking the whole staff and 18 clients hostage, the robbers locked them in the strong room and baths of the bank.
They were communicating in Pashto during the robbery and collected Rs five million from the bank and fled away in a car without any number plate. SP Nida Chattha told the media at the bank that the robbed amount was not more than Rs five million while the police had started checking all points of the city as well as the sensitive areas where the robbers could have hidden after the incident. She confirmed that the robbers were Afghan nationals and were fully aware of IT in the bank.
