Pakistan Polo team advance to semis

Pakistan galloped to a thrilling 12-1/2 – 10 win over South Africa in the final game of the group stages but both the countries qualified for the semi-finals having beaten Nigeria by large margins in the 2011 FIP Polo World Cup Zone D Play-offs being held in Malaysia. Pakistan topped the table with two wins and a superior goal difference to India, who also had two wins. South Africa and Australia edged out Malaysia, who went out on goal difference. Malaysia now join the New Zealand and Nigeria in the Round Robin for the fifth to seventh place which will take place on Field two at the Royal Pahang Polo Club in Pekan, Pahang.
In the first semi-final, South Africa will face India while the second semi-final will be played between Pakistan and Australia. Both the semi-finals will be played today. The third and fourth place match will be held at the Royal Selangor Polo Club, Kuala Lumpur on Friday, June 24 and the final on Saturday, June 25. The three top teams will qualify for the FIP Polo World Cup Final from the Asian-Australasian-African zone. The FIP Polo World Cup Final will be held in San Luis, Argentina in October 2011.
