A news items appearing on the 17th of June is not of much concern to us even though it should be. This may be for the simple reason that our attitude towards the US is dictated and not of our own choosing. The news item is regarding the video of the in camera session of the parliament reaching a US diplomat. Does that really make a difference as details of the session would already have reached the White House since our government is very loyal in its “alliance” with the US? Such reports surfacing in the media can only strengthen anti-American sentiment as it will solidify the perception that our relation is unequal and not that of two sovereign states. We need to revise the paradigm within which Pak-US relations exist. Otherwise, they will be mutually harmful as opposed to beneficial.
