In the mood for denial

It’s the foremost duty of every country to provide fool proof security to their citizens. But in Pakistan, no one is safe. The recent attack on Karachi Naval Base was an attack on the sovereignty of our nation and it has given us an assured idea that Pakistan is no more a safe place, both for citizens as well as foreigners.

The attack on PNS Mehran Base was an incredible security lapse. Where were the hundreds of security men on duty? How could it be possible for the terrorists to enter the most sensitive area? The navy claims that not even a bird can enter that zone; then how did those 4 to 6 hefty birdies enter? It is a big question mark on our nation’s safety controllers. Another point is how two of the terrorists ran away, despite the deployment of security soon after the arrival of terrorists? It seems as if the network of black sheep and unpatriotic people within the navy were involved, but we often like to be in denial.

Following this incident, there seems to be no move to bring those responsible to the book. Countries around the world are now saying that it is a piece of cake to attack Pakistan without using jets and bombs. Just a dozen people will suffice. It is high time that we come out of this denial and rectify the institutional shortcoming of our armed forces.
