Govt ready to extend scope of commission: Babar tells SC

Federal government is ready to extend scope of commission to be constituted to probe into kidnapping and murder case of journalist Saleem Shahzad.
Federation counsel Babar Awan said this in front of the Supreme Court (SC) during the course of hearing of petition moved by PFUJ here Monday.
A 2-member SC bench comprising Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Justice Amir Hani took up the petition for hearing.
Babar Awan said the government and all other agencies wanted the case of Salim Shahzad be fully investigated.
while counsel for petitioner including Munir A Malik and Asma Jahangir said the government had already constituted a commission which was against the independence of the court.
“I will nominate the judge and the law ministry will be informed through fax while the government should frame the commission soon”, CJP remarked.
