After severe criticism by the PML-N and other opposition parties and refusal of Justice (r) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim to become part of the Abbottabad Commission, the government is considering reformulating the body to make it acceptable for all.
The government had constituted a five-member commission headed by Supreme Court Judge Justice Javed Iqbal in the light of the joint resolution passed by parliament to probe the Abbottabad incident in which Osama Bin Laden was killed in unilateral action by US forces. The commission consisted of Justice (r) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim, Lt Gen (r) Nadeem Ahmed, Abbas Khan and Ashraf Jahnagir Qazi.
However the PML-N and other opposition parties severally criticised the commission and Ebrahim excused from becoming its part. Govt sleuths then held several sessions and analysed various suggestions by PPP senior members and arrived at the conclusion that the commission must be reconstituted, the sources said. They added that Opposition Leader Nisar Ali Khan would be consulted prior to the formation of the new commission.
