500 Ashiyana houses will complete by next month: CM

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that housing schemes with modern facilities have been launched for the poor for the first time in the 63-year history of the country and the credit for launching Aashiyana Housing Project goes to PML-N. He was addressing a meeting held with regard to the housing project on Saturday. Shahbaz said that besides Lahore, work on Aashiyana housing schemes in Sargodha, Sahiwal, Faisalabad and Jehlum was progressing speedily and these schemes would start in 16 districts of the province during the next fiscal year.
He said that transparency was being ensured in the Aashiyana Housing Scheme. He said particulars of applicants getting houses through balloting were being verified in a transparent manner so that only deserving people get houses in these residential colonies and gamblers stay away from these schemes. He hoped that 500 houses would be completed and handed over to the people in the next month.
Punjab Land Development Company Chairman and Member Provincial Assembly Sheikh Alauddin briefed the meeting about the projects of Aashiyana housing schemes in the province. Members of the national and provincial assemblies and senior officers attended the meeting.
Shahbaz discusses Pak-UK relations with British high commissioner: British High Commissioner to Pakistan Adam Thomson met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday. Bilateral relations, cooperation in different sectors, law and order situation in the region and various matters of mutual interest were discussed in the meeting. Deputy High Commissioner Islamabad Peter Tibber, Deputy High Commissioner Karachi Francis Campbell and UK Representative in Punjab Alastair King-Smith also accompanied Thomson.
Shahbaz informed the British delegation about the salient features of the provincial budget of the next fiscal year and the details of steps being taken for the province’s welfare. Provincial Education Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Member National Assembly Pervaiz Malik, members provincial assembly Shahzadi Umarzadi Tiwana, Col (r) Shuja Khanzada and Planning and Development chairman were also present on the occasion.
