A US judge on Friday dismissed all criminal charges against Osama bin Laden following the al Qaeda leader’s death in Pakistan last month. US District Court judge Lewis Kaplan, who had been presiding over the case in Manhattan federal court, issued an order called “nolle prosequi”, which means do not prosecute in Latin, a typical legal move once a defendant is deceased. The move officially closes the criminal case against Osama, stemming from a 1998 indictment naming him and others in the bombings of two US embassies in Africa.
