Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Friday urged the elected representatives to come forward and play a proactive role for achieving the development targets of the next fiscal year.
Shahbaz while presiding over a meeting said the Punjab government had decided to release the funds allocated for development projects in two, instead of four instalments for ensuring timely completion of uplift schemes. He said besides generating large scale job opportunities for the youth, a comprehensive strategy had also been adopted for bringing women into the national mainstream.
He said 65 per cent funds would be spent on the development of rural areas during next financial year while 32 per cent was being allocated for south Punjab. Describing unemployment as a serious issue, he said the Punjab government had evolved an affective, comprehensive and result-oriented strategy for coping with the problem and to provide opportunities to the educated and skilled youth to stand on their own feet and become useful member of the society.
He said 20,000 yellow cabs would be distributed for which a sum of Rs.4.50 billion had been reserved in the next financial year, adding that 40 per cent vehicles would be distributed in the under-developed area of south Punjab.
