Johar Town police on Friday subjected a cameraman of a local news channel to torture on recording a scene of police torture of a 12-year-old boy.
Johar Town police arrested a 12-year-old boy and dragged him to a vehicle. In the meantime, Waheed Butt, a cameraman, reached the scene and started capturing the scene on his mobile phone. The police after noticing the cameraman snatched his cell phone and started beating him. The police also took the cameraman to the police station and detained him for some time.
After knowing about the incident, journalists boycotted the press conference of Lahore DIG Investigation Ali Amir Malik and demanded immediate action against the police officials involved.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and ordered arrest of the officials concerned. CCPO Lahore Malik Ahmad Raza has issued an order to suspend the policemen involved in this incident.
Fire: Valuables worth thousands of rupees were burnt when fire broke out in two different incidents in the provincial metropolis on Friday. In the first incident, fire broke out at the house of Muhammad Irfan owing to short-circuiting near Joray Pul, Iqbal Town. In the second incident, fire broke out in Poly Technical College owing to short-circuiting. Firefighters extinguished the fire at both the places.
